Fall Internship and Apprenticeship Opportunities.
The Good Shepherds are an unincorporated land management group, protecting and managing the wild urban interface with herds and flock of goats and sheep we shepherd. We are looking to help build the capacity of with like minded, regenerates (not degenerates), as we call ourselves.
We are carving a path for strong, earth stewards to co-create a more green pastures of opportunity, and community-based WIN for Southern California and beyond. If you are looking for a fall internship, consider applying.
After a introductory period we will open up an opportunity for season long apprenticeships that could lead to joining our team. We are growing into a cooperative model and want the right folks along for the journey.
Regenerative approaches to land management, including targeted grazing with goats, sheep and other ruminants, are essential for the health of our ecosystem. That said, shepherding in an urban environment is complex work. It calls for a deep commitment to growth in many dimensions at once, including, but not limited to: the ability to adapt quickly in new environments, a strict attention to detail, the capacity for intense physical labor in rugged conditions, strong social-emotional intelligence and communication skills, and a heart that holds all life as sacred.
We are here to show California that there is a new way of living the old way. The collective tending of wild lands is part of an integrated feedback loop that enhances the ecology around us while improving the quality of our personal experience at the same time.
In addition to more shepherds, we are actively seeking media support, and executive assistant support.
Media: Ideally the right fit would have time to come out and stay with us periodically onsite to document the work of the modern day shepherd. Using film and social media to tell our story, this role interfaces with the general population to help shape the perception of how we look at the land around us.
Executive Assistant: This is an unconventional business avenue and we do business unconventionally and we need folks to help organize and systematize from operations to accounting. This involves big picture viewing as well as nitty gritty detail oriented attention.
